RX Party Last August 26

Wow!! It has been more than a month since I last updated this Blog. My apologies for being late in giving this update into my Blog, but as always, I have a bag of goodies in store in this one.

Talk about lucky days.

Last August 26, 2005 was a very, very, very lucky day for me. First thing in the morning, Sherwin comes along and has 4 tickets to an RX Anniversary Party dubbed as Upgrade Version 2.2. So all in all, Sherwin has 4 tickets, two of which would be spent for him and his girlfriend and leaving 2 extra ones. Take note that the tickets are worth 800 bucks alone.

These two tickets would be the subject of debate to whom it should go to. Well, Jerico, another officemate, was jockeying for the all important tickets with me. IN the spirit of the free world, we decided that this should be settled in a bet.

Obviously I won and the bet because I am writing about the experience in the RX event. Good for me, Bad for Jerico. Sorry dude J

That was the first lucky thing that happened to me.

Fast forward to 6pm, I was going to fetch my girlfriend from their house and then off to DISH in the ABS-CBN compound along Mother Ignacia. There we were, all happy to go there and then it hits us. We have to fall in line for half an hour. Good thing Sherwin was already there in advance because without him, we wouldn’t have any seats at all. The venue was really packed with lots and lots of beautiful people. But I didn’t care. I was with the one girl I really wanted to be that night. It didn’t matter.

After that long 45 minute line, we got into the party and guess where we were seated?

We were right in front of the stage!! How could that be??!? That many people and us being a bit late be in the VIP area. It was insane. We had the best view of the stage plus the best view of Katya Santos who was seated directly beside me. Here I was seated the girl of my dreams and on the other side one if the (VIVA) Hottest babes in the Philippines. What could be better that that?

I asked Irish, Sherwin’s girlfriend, how the hell did we end up with those seats? It turned out that while they were looking for a seat in the venue, Irish just sat there and so did Sherwin without knowing that it was in the VIP section. They only noticed it when the waiter removed the sign “RESERVED” from the table. O well, they just sat there and nobody bothered to ask them if it was really for them. Life has been good to us that day. J

Good food, good crowd, nice place. Nothing could be better.

Let’s move forward to the mini concert of RX.

First up there was Stonefree. I wasn’t really a fan of these guys, hell, that night was the first time I saw them but I kind of liked their music. I loved the song “Sayang”.

Here are a couple of Stonefree pictures. Irish was good enough to take a picture of me and almost all of the bands. How I wish I had my camera with me.
Up next was Sandwich. Sandwich was a band that I have known before but never really listened to. I looked at them and it instantly reminded me of Good Charlotte, specially the vocalist. Just check out the pictures and you will see what I mean.

Honestly, my impression of the band was they were going to break up a lot of stuff, literally. The vocalist was throwing the microphone together with the microphone stand. The microphone then fell on the floor and broke into three pieces. That was really fun.

Most memorable song from Sandwich, “Lahat ng babangga, magigiba!!!” I don’t know why but it kind of got stuck in my head.

I also liked the hair. Oh my God, the hair. I will make my hairdo like that once my hair grows a bit.
Sandwich was a showband. I mean, they really aim to please the audience. I liked the poses of the band. Good for pictures. They had a different kind of dance. Kind of reminds me of the old rock and roll days. Anyway, check out the pictures of Sandwich.
Up next was Spongecola. This was the point where our girlfriends actually forgot that they were with their boyfriends. Why? It was simply because they were screaming their hearts out without even thinking of who’s around them. Damn rock stars!!
Anyway, I loved the song KLSP or whatever it was. I guess you guys have figured out that I’m not much into Filipino music.

Spongecola had a something in their music that was nice. Talk to you about this band later. But first, see the pictures. Enjoy!!
The after that was the always present South Border. South Border has gone some through a lot of changes. I don’t even recognize the vocalists anymore and they seem to have gone to a new genre in their music. They were more into the hip-hop genre and the band just doesn’t seem to look the music. C’mon guys, you’re old. Old people don’t look good in hip-hop. Agree? Here are the pictures for those who want to see.

Enough of the old guys, ok? Out with the old, in with the new, so to speak. With that in mind, the next band could be the hottest thing right now when it comes to Filipino music. They are none other than Hale.

At this point, every single female person is shouting their lungs out. I haven’t heard this many hormone screaming fans since I left college. Damn, my ears felt they were bleeding once this band began to set up their equipment. They weren’t playing anything yet.

What’s with this band? Really, I’m serious. I can’t see why these girls are really screaming “I love you!!” at these guys. Women, I can’t really understand them.

What do girls see? Well, yes, they have a few good songs, but does that qualify them this much attention? Hhhmmm, for women, I guess logic does not apply when it comes to these things. Peace tayo ladies... Hale sang their hits mostly. You guys should know, right?

Without further adieu, here are the pictures of Hale.

Now that the girls already had their fun, I guess it is time for us guys to have some. Up next is Barbie Almalbis. I still remember her from my college days. She was real pretty. She was a looker.

But I guess destiny has other plans. Why you ask? Man, read the papers. Heheheheh. Barbie and I are “hindi talo”. Go figure.

But let’s not judge people with their preference, right? Besides, she has a good voice which really stands out from the rest of the singers here. She has a light yet nice sound to her voice. You couldn’t mistake it to anything. Once you hear her voice, you would know it’s her.

She sang the song for the close up commercial. I forgot the title. But it was good. She also sang songs from her new album. Her music was light to the ears and soul. I loved that performance.

Here are her photos.

Last but certainly not the least performer. The hottest chick right now in the Philippines. Kitchie Nadal. Oh my, hasn’t she grown. I’ve seen her since my days in school. Hell, I’ve seen her up close in our dancing class and she was hot as ever.

She had this look that gave her an attitude. Just see for yourself.

I loved the music of Kitchie and she sang all of her hit songs. No need to specify them. Everybody must have heard of her by now, right?

I really can’t write much about her because I was really speechless during the time she performed. Real hot chick. Certified.

By this time, the show was over and the four of us had a good time. Who wouldn’t? We were all smiles as we left the venue. Talking about the show and who we saw at DISH. It was a night to remember.

Little did we know that it wasn’t over yet. Just as we were leaving the venue through the parking area, someone approached Sherwin asking for a lighter.

Guess who it was? It was the lead vocalist of Spongecola. All three of my companions were starstruck specially Sherwin. So I had to break the ice off a bit.

“You’re from Spongecola right?” was what I said, trying to sound smart yet unfamiliar.

He said yeah and Sherwin gave him the lighter. After that I asked him if we could take pictures. You could see the smile of our girlfriends a mile away. They had pictures taken and we left the parking area. Check these out.

Lucky girls!! I wish it was Kitchie or Barbie. Oh well, you certainly can’t win them all.

After that, Sherwin helped me bring my girlfriend home and we proceeded to the office to work.

When I got to work, I sat on my chair, looked at my laptop, and closed my eyes and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……

A perfect ending to a perfect day…..

Moving Day

Today is the first time to work in our new office. To those who do not know, my office used to be located in the Ologan Square along Ayala Ave. It's the so called Standard Chartered building in front of LKG. Now my office is in the 35th floor of the RCBC building. It's kinda cool to have a new office. Everythings new. Everything smells nice and most of all everything is clean. ON the other hand, that is what I hate about the new office.

Sounds conflicting, right? Let me explain...

I'm going to miss my old cubicle. It may be dusty and old but I love the way it covers me. I like the way it gives me privacy in doing my work and other stuff. My old cube is the typical one where people can hide from the view of others and do other stuff in secret.

In my new office, I don't have a cube. Period!!

I have to share a long table with another guy!! Nothing wrong about that except that there is no privacy. My co-table guy can look behind his shoulders and he can see what I am doing. I hate that. Most of the people in the office know why (wink wink). Let me show you.

Do you see what I mean? If you look at my work place now, people who pass by the corridors can see me and I can see them too. The problem with this is when I want to have total silence or should have no distraction in work, someone walks by and distracts me. As I was typing this blog, there were around 2 people walking by every minute.

Another thing I would miss in the old office is the calm silence. There ws nobody near me in the office. The nearest person would be 10 meters away from me. Besides, there were only 5 of us on the half of a floor and that makes the whole place silent.

I can't imagine how much noise there would be in here once all the people come in. Here is a picture of the office when there are no people. Right now it's very quiet and am still loving the atmosphere.

AS you can see, everything looks nice. Yet I don't like it that much.

The only thing I like about this new place is the view. I can see so much from up here. 36 floors is so high. Everything at the street looks so small.

Come to think of it, what can I see if I just take a peek behind the window?

Here is Buendia on a busy day. It looks so nice to have a bird's eye view of things. It feels different to look at cars this way. I don't think I would get tired of this view.

Up next is.... You look at it and guess first before I tell you....

No peeking....

If you guessed it's the Makati City Fire Station then you are correct. This is the first time I saw what was at the back of that place. I thought there was going to be something there but all I saw was a big stupid hole. Oh well, so much for hiding something there.

Up next, I can see.. Is that Sta. Ana Race Park? Yes it is. That was one of the best sites to see in here. No need to explain this one.

Last but not the least is my skyline view. It's not much, but whenever I see open skies over tall buildings. I just think of how God created the blue sky that is infinitely high yet crystal clear. It's stuff like these that make us see the beauty of what God has given us. (In this picture, I don't think the sky is blue but you get what I'm saying ;p)

Now that I have seen these things, I don't think moving out is that bad. I think I'm going to like it here. The only thing I need to figure out is how I would sleep in this little table without getting caught by my boss.

Mmmm..

So many questions....

It was my Mom's Birthday

My mom just celebrated her birthday last Saturday. So I treated her out and my family along with some friends to lunch. It has been a while since the family ate out so it was a good thing, right?

Anyway, I treated my family at Little Asia. It's that little restaurant found in Tomas Morato besides Ratsky. If you want to find the place, just search it in google. What? You want me to write the address here? No way, if you're reading this then you can look it up on your own.

On to the lunch....

Sobrang dami namin nakain. Sa sobrang dami e kailangan ko nang tumawag sa ICU ng Makati Medical Center para sa wallet ko. Medyo masakit nga wallet ko after that lunch. Hehehehe...

Back to the lunch. It was my family of 6 plus Luis ( my dad's partner in our restaurant / bar business) and my girlfriend. Please see picture below:

From left to :My girlfriend, me, my little sister, my mom, my dad, luis, little brother and kuya

Anyway, the reason I wanted to eat there was because one, the food was good & two, Luis agreed with me that it was a good place to eat and celebrate something.

We ate a lot of stuff there and it was all good. We first had a soup made of squash. It had a nice light sweet taste and it was all good for the body. Unfortunately, that was the only healthy thing we ate.

Up next was prawns. We had prawns wrapped in bacon, prawns in aligue and prawns with cheese. Super HIGH Cholesterol. I mean, the food was a heart attack waiting to happen but what the hell. It's just for one day and we don't usually eat prawns. The prawns were big and tasted sooo good. I could go for another round if only I wasn't a health buff now. Hehehehe. It may not show, but I work out at home. I will show you guys my gym next time.

We also ordered my favorite. The cheese wrapped in slices of beef. I really love the strong taste of the beef mixing with the flavor of the cheese. It was sumptious. I really love those.

We also had a serving of pancit which was really tasty and the yang chow fried rice. We had those all in all.

The dynamic duo. With brothers like these, who needs enemies?

Ang iyakin kong little sister

Ang aking mama at papa

Ako at ang aking girlfriend

After that meal, we had dessserts. I loved the mango tower. It was just mango with ice cream and fried wanton wrappers but it was all good. I loved the way it tasted. I also loved the mango flan. Just a good way to end a good lunch. After that was the hard part, getting the bill. Man, my wallet was so hurting that I couldn't sit properly in the car.

When everything was paid for. I thought everybody was full and we would all call it a day. But to ny suprise, they all wanted coffee and cakes. Oh well, since we're there, why not. Luis suggested we go to a place calle Petite 4. It was supposed to be a good chocolate cake place and I just love cakes. So off we went.

Petite 4 was located across the Virgin Cafe. So it was a short 3 minute drive. I was already excited to get there. I could already taste the cake in my mouth.

But when we got there and parked in front, I was wondering why the guard was waving at us. When the window of the car opened, you know what the guard said?

"Sorry boss, sarado e"

Damn, and I was all excited to taste the best chocolate caske in town. (this was how luis described the cake at that time)

Damn again.

Anyway, after a little deliberation from everyone, we all agreed to go to Starbucks in ABS-CBN. It was your typical Starbucks. Nothing special.

But at least I got to see Tado there. Man, he looks more like a janitor than a talent of ABS-CBN. I'm serious. Hehehehe

Cost of Gas going to Tomas Morato - 400

Cost of Food in Little Asia - 4000 ++++

Starbucks Coffee - 1000

Seeing everybody Happy - Priceless

Music Match

Another very long day in the office. Too bad I can't sleep this morning because my boss is coming to work early. So no zzzz's for me this week. Besides, I have a lot of stuff to finish before the "BIG" office transition happens. I'll keep you all posted when "IT" happens.

Anyway, I'm here sitting on my chair, chatting with old friends. They're going on and on with a plan for a reunion with my college pals. (Heck! I'm just curious where those people ended up!). Of course, I oblige and a reunion is on the works. After that little chitchat I turn on my Itunes (Copyright of Apple Computer Inc.) and lo and behold, I have some old music that seems cool to listen to now. Well, since I'm on the nostalgia mode now, might as well.

First song on the list is Feel Good Inc. Does anybody honestly know what the lyrics mean? I mean, sure it sounds good but does anyone have any idea what the song means? Read this..

City's breaking down on a camel’s back.
They just have to go 'cos they dont hold back
So all you fill the streets it’s appealing to see
You wont get out the county, 'cos you're bad and free
You've got a new horizon It's ephermal style.
A melancholy town where we never smile.
And all I wanna hear is the message beep.
My dreams, they've got to kiss, because I dont get sleep, no..
C'mon, Does this mean anything at all? I have to admit, I love the beat and the tune. Specially the chorus of this song.
Up next is Loneley by Akon. First time I heard this one, I said to myself "What am I thinking buying this cd?!?!". That surely changed when i listened to the song. I kinda like it now. It's something old yet its new. I have to admit that it was a song that mixed something that I liked as a kid and when I outgrew the song, Akon comes and makes it "cool" again. Many people may disagree with me, but this is my blog.
Here are a few lines to that song and lets see if it sounds familiar to you.
Lonely I'm Mr.lonely,
I have nobody,
For my owwnnn
I’m so lonely,
I’m Mr.LonelyI have nobody,
For my owwnnn
I’m so lonely
Yo, this one here,
Goes out to all my playas out there, man, ya know
you gotta have that one good girl
That’s always been there, like man
took all the bullshit
Then one day she can’t take it no more
And decides to leave
What do you think? I would give this song 8 stars out of 10.
Next song is by none other that S-N-Double O-P D-O-Double G. Yep, it's Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Doggy Dogg with Justin Timberlake. I guess we all know what this song is. (Of course we do, we've been singing it the past few months already). To those who don't know, its Signs. Nice Song. Nice beat. Nice lyrics. But one problem, Justin Timberlake? C'mon Snoop, you can do better than that. When did the boy band suddenly cross over to the bad lands. Snoop is supposed to be the bad boy of rap but all of a sudden heres JT all trying to be a badass but hell, everytime I see him I think of N%&*%^$%$'SYNC.
Here's the part of the song that I like.
Chorus - Justin Timberlake (Uncle Charlie Wilson)]
I'm not sure what I see
Cupid don't f**k wit me!
Are you telling me this is a sign?
She's looking in my eyes, noticing no other guys
Are you telling me this is a sign? (OHHH!!!)
[Snoop Dogg]Don't think about it,
boy leave her alone(Ooh wee!!)
Nigga you ain't no G!
She likes my tone, my cologne and the way I roll, you ain't no G!
At least Snoop tells JT to take a hike.
Damn, Almost lunchtime. I guess I won't be able to finish all the songs on my ITune (Property of Apple Computer Inc.). Well, that's life. Catch you all later. To be continued....

Monday, July 11, 2005

It's been four hours at work and still nothing to do. I have been sleeping on my chair for the last couple of hours. Occasionally being awakened by my own snoring. Tsk, it's just another typical day on my RTS choirs.
It's been two weeks since I have been a day walker. For the people who don't know, I have been in the night shift for quite some time now. (For almost 2 years now if I'm not mistaken).
Being a Day Walker has it's perks. Everything is cheaper in the day. I got to cut in half my spending. That's 50% going to my savings & saving are always good. I get to see a lot of people during the day. I see them in the elevator, downstairs and everywhere. It took me a little while just to get used to that.
If there are positives, of course there are negatives. For example, I just can't stand the heat of the sun. It's so hot. I can't walk a block without breaking a sweat. It's really hot. It's also very dirty during the day. I would think I was working in Brgy. Mausok and Baryo Maalikabok. Damn all this dirt getting in my face.
There are also fewer people to see during the day here in the office. I can only talk to four people here during the day and they're 10 meters away from me. That's the total opposite of the night shift. The office is packed by people.
Mmmm.. I'm getting lightheaded again. I'm getting sleepy.. Maybe I should take another nap. What do you think?
